A little view of Christmas.....

I thought since I just started updating my blog again that I would give you a little glimpse of the christmas cards that we have been making for the last 2 months in class & for craft shows.

Thank you for stopping by!!

Crosses of Hope....

My Aunt Kim from Shreveport loves my cards!!  She buys & uses them all the time.  I cased these 2 cards & made them for her.  They are both using the "Crosses of Hope" stamp set.

I used Night of Navy card stock on the card base with the lacy brocade embossing folder.  The cross was made by stamping the cross with versa mark on Night of Navy card stock then sprinkle with white embossing powder.  I then cut it out with scissors.  I used dementionals to put the cross on the whisper white card stock.

This card I used Elegant Eggplant for the layer & stamping ink.  This is a very simple but elegant card also.

Our Zachy

While I have been away, a grand baby has been born!!  This is his latest photo....enjoy all!!

December Class Card

I have christmas's myself out!  I have made so many christmas items & cards for the craft shows, that I am ready to move on past christmas!  This is one of the cards that I designed using the Love & Sympathy set.

I used Crumb Cake as the card base & embossed with the perfect dots embossing folder.  The ribbon & ink for the flower & words is Midnight Muse.  I used the French Script back ground for just a light touch on the background of the layer & scallop circle.

After Much Deliberation......

After much deliberation I have decided to keep my blog & start updating it again!!  So, without further ado, I will get down to business!

Spider! Spider!

I made this card for a SWAP that I entered the other day.  I used the new Tricky Treats stamp set from the catty.  The DSP is from the Holiday Mini called Howlstooth & Scaringbone.  I love this new paper.  There are so many cool designs!

Challenging Challenge

I made this card for a challenge on VC Rocks.  It was a challenge that was a series of steps that you choose different paper & then it told you which choices to put together.  This is how my choices ended up going together.  A little bit weird as you can see, but that's why they call it a challenge!!  Sometimes it really stretches your creative juices to make something out of your choices.  It had to be a birthday card in the end.

I ended up mailing this one to the swap coordinator as a little joke.  I hope she was able enjoy my humor.

The DSP is from the Summer Smooches pack & the card stock is crushed concord from the retiring in-color paper.

Fenced In

I made this card just for fun one afternoon with my neighbor, Lindy Sparks.  I cut crumb cake card stock 1" x 5 1/4" to make the fence planks.  to add the weathering on the planks I just drug the early expresso stamp pad down each plank.  The 1 1/4" circle punch was used to round the tops of the planks.  The flowers were the centers of one of the mixed bunch flowers that was punched out with the boho blossom punch.

VC Rock weekly challenge #2

Weekly challenge #2 is to incorporate DOODLING into your project (card, page or 3D item). Do NOT think a doodle style stamp will suffice; I want you to actually pick up a SU marker or pen and DOODLE somewhere on your project - it can be a minor element.

Not your style? Well, that is why we call them challenges!!

Here is what I came up with for this challenge.......

I used the blossom punch to punch the whisper white card stock.  I cut a 2x2 square of the red & white polka dot DSP from the Summer Smooches pack & glued on the back of the white.  For the challenge I doodled all around the edge of the whisper white card stock with the back stamping' write marker.  I finished off the card by adding a filagree brad that is retired & the Hello saying from an also retired set.

I hope that you enjoyed!!

VC Rocks Challenge #1

VCRocks weekly challenge 1

Well, this is what I created with this challenge......

This is one of the new In-Colors!  Primrose Petals it is named.  It really isn't like an other colors we have at all.

VC Rocks

WHAT IS VC ROCKS?

VC Rocks is a virtual celebration of the rubber stamp company Stampin' Up!

Our annual celebration runs from mid-April through August.

It's a CELEBRATION of Stampin' Up!'s new catalog release and annual convention.

It's a gathering spot for both Stampin' Up! demonstrators and customers.

It's an expression of our ENTHUSIASM for Stampin' Up!'s new stamps and products.

It's a SHARING of creative stamping and scrapping ideas through swaps, make and takes, challenges and classes.

It's SUPPORT for our SU demos with swaps and ideas for their business,

And it's ENCOURAGEMENT of friendships based on our common interest in stamping and Stampin' Up!

I joined this group last year & had a blast!!  There are all kinds of activities that run through the annual celebration!  One of which are challenges that challenge your creative juices to flow!!  I will be posting some of the cards I have made through the challenges.

If you would like more info about this group let me know.  I will be happy to talk about it!!  I warn you though....it is an addictive group!!

Spring Loaded Truck for Hubby

I made this card for hubby one afternoon after seeing a tutorial on using fine wire to "spring load" images.  I know you can not tell from the picture but the truck actually moves around as you move the card.  It is a really cool technique to try!  I am sad to say that this set is retiring also!!

Thank you for stopping by & I hope you enjoyed!!

May Class Cards

Well, it's been a long time since I posted to my blog.  Life has been so crazy!!  Things seem to be falling into a pattern & settling down some now.

Tonight I am posting the May class Cards.  The theme this month are manly cards, but I had to throw in the turtle guy because it is the Ronald McDonald stamp set this year.  For every set sold SU! donates $3 to Ronald McDonald House Charities.  I always try to buy the Ronald McDonald set each year.  This year my mom purchased it!  The set is called Turtle & Co..  It's such a cute set with a turtle, frog, & snail!!  It's a must have for every stamp collection of course!!

This 2nd card is made with the Nature Silhouettes stamp set.  I absolutely love this set.  It is on the retirement list this year & I am sad about it.  I also love this DSP called Well Worn.  It has so many beautiful patterns in it.

This card uses the Totally Tool stamp set.  I used the brushed silver card stock & embossed it with a Non-Stampin' Up! embossing folder.  Shhhhhh don't tell!!  I colored the tools with the water color crayons & blender pens.

This is my favorite card of all.  This stamp comes from the In Wilderness stamp set.  I made this at a dear friends house at her stamp class some time ago.  I don't know if you can see on the Always Artichoke layer that it looks like marble.  All you do is rub your Artichoke pad in a circular motion directly on the card stock.  It leaves a marble like appearance.

Thank you for stopping by & I hope you enjoyed!!

April Stamp Class Card #2

I have been waiting to use this set for class for a couple months now. I knew it was the right time when I found a Gardening Encyclopedia at a garage sale for 25 cents!! Wooohoooo!! I knew I wanted to use this paper as the background for this card.

Field of Flowers made it past the plethora of retirement cuts!! The little bees are from an old set that my friend Lindy Sparks bought at a different garage sale that same day. I made the flowers using the 2 step technique with Tempting Turquoise & Pacific Point. What an unlikely combo I know, but I loved these 2 colors together. I used the Turquoise as the card base & have sense changed the layer to Very Vanilla from the Lucky Limeade.

Another Play Day.....

I was stamping with my friend Holly a few days ago & we decided to just stamp away. I made 3 cards that day. This is one of the cards that I made. I used the Sweet Treat DSP & Jelly Bean Brad. The little elephant is one of the single stamps that we have this year called Elebration. The card base is Wisteria Wonder from the In-Color collection this year. The balloons I stamped & cut out from the Party This Way stamp set.

Just Playin' Around.....

I love the House Mouse Stamps! I found this one at the local craft store & just had to have it! Isn't he just the cutest? I used the Stampin' Up! pastels to color the image. I made the background with the starburst embossing folder.

Cascade Card....

Today my girlfriend & I set out to make a cascade card that we had seem this weekend at a stamping event, but did not remember what it looked like. I also saw a post on Dawn Griffith'sblog that inspired me. She was directing us to Frenchie's blog for directions for this card. These 2 ladies are very talented. I frequent their blogs for ideas. So, here is my card!! I just cut my candles out of designer series paper & used the wing from the bird builder punch for the flame. I stamped & cut out the balloons from the Party this Way set.

Here is the card that my Girlfriend made!! Isn't the little elephant the cutest?

Thanks for stopping by & I hope you enjoyed!

Live in the Sunshine.....

This is the 1st of 4 projects for April stamp class. I absolutely love sunflowers. My grandma loved sunflowers & chickens. Every time I see a chicken or sunflower I think of her.

I took the woodgrain background & stamped it in chocolate chip on the whisper white card stock. I then stamped the sunflower background stamp in versa mark & embossed it with white embossing powder. After embossing it, I sponged the flower petals with more mustard & the center of the flower with chocolate chip. The base of the card stock is night of navy with a more mustard layer. I used the denim ribbon around the card. Live in the Sunshine comes from the Pursuit of Happiness stamp set.

I hope you enjoyed!!!

Elements of Style

This was our 4th card for class in March. One change that I made from this card was that I changed the card base to Basic Black. I thought it made the card a lot richer. If you want the directions on how this card was done just leave me a comment.

I hope you enjoyed!

Kindness Matters

This was the 3rd card we did for March Class. The Card Base is Crumb Cake. The layers are Island Indigo, Crumb Cake & Whisper White. On the card sample I used White Bakers Twine, but for class we used the Island Indigo twine. The stamps used are from the Kindness Matters set that can be purchased or can be earned for free for spending $50. The Thanks was stamped with crumb cake ink.

I hope you enjoyed!
